Óbuda University possesses internationally acknowledged research and development opportunities, facilities, and accomplishments. The institution’s professional and recognized scholars publish their results in leading scientific journals, high-standard international conferences and books.
Cooperation with prominent stakeholders of the economy, industry and technical science inspire research, development and innovation. International collaborations offer excellent opportunities beyond borders. The university promotes ethical scientific research for the common benefit of humanity, advances constant curriculum development and encourages the pursuit of academic excellence.
Research, development and innovation are a distinguished part of the university, which creates a well-balanced unity with the education. Research, development and innovation is implemented in high-standard, internationally-known basic researches, European and national research projects, as well as industrial developments and innovation.
The university supports research groups which lay basics of university researches motivated by industrial needs, satisfying market needs and finalizing in products in the long run, to create the possibilities of building future knowledge centres. It is initiating the establishment of competence centres, which cooperate intensively with the economy and pursue distinguished research-development and innovative activities in the future, too.
University Research and Innovation Center (EKIK) opened its labs in 2014, aiming to spread knowledge, serve innovation and put forward research and development at Óbuda University. The strategic goal of EKIK is also to support and leverage the research of graduate students, to create an ecosystem of science and innovation, where intelligent learning and organic research meet applied development.
The ABC Center for Intelligent Robotics is devoted to promote the scientific and technological advancement of robotics, primarily for service applications.
The Biotech Research Center (BRC) is an independently managed unit that supports biomedical engineering research, development, innovation, result management and education. The main areas of interest are medical image processing, tissue engineering, bioinformatics, medical informatics, health monitoring, medical signal processing, and biotechnology.
The mission of the Smartlab Knowledge Center is to cooperate and support our partners to succeed in their business by its complex, cross-disciplinary and innovative activities based on the R&D competencies of Óbuda University.
The Physiological Controls Research Center (PhysCon) works on the interdisciplinary field of biomedical engineering mostly on the physiological modelling, simulation and control domain, efficiently supporting the progress of medical science (both in terms of research and clinical practice) with actual knowledge of engineering sciences. The most important research domains of PhysCon are connected to diabetes (artificial pancreas), haemodialysis, biostatistics (evidence-based medicine), cancer, where in case of the last one it is recipient of the EU's ERC StG grant.
Through its national and international interdisciplinary scientific and research activities Health Economics Research Center (HECON) promotes medical and technological innovation and its exploitation within education, the economy and the society.
